I won’t promise to update this journal or the creation of a niche site every day because, well to be honest, I’ve got a lot of other sites that need my attention and I may simply run out of time. Also, after the first week or so, building backlinks every day will only supply a certain amount of fodder for interesting blog content here. Day after day of me posting saying, “posted at another one of my blogs with a link to my niche site” will get a bit old.
So my day 1 task has been to gather together content and submit the first post on the new niche site. Some important features about this first post should be noted. The post title contains the keyword I am targeting, this will be consistent every day because ALL of my post titles will contain the keyword I’m targeting. If I were submitting a post for the example I cited in the last post, I might title it “Online GED Classes Explained” or something similar. Anything to get the keyword up there.
The post content contains my keyword again in the first paragraph, it also contains my keyword in the last paragraph as well as variations of my keyword scattered throughout the post. The length of this first post runs to about 500 words.
I followed up the submission of my first post by bookmarking the post in some social bookmarking sites. The reason to do this is to try to get the site indexed quickly. In my experience social bookmarking sites such as Mixx, Delicious and Mister-Wong (among many others) are very successful in getting a new site onto the Google SERPs.
After the social bookmarking I made a post on one of my other sites, linking to my new post using my keyword as the anchor text. It’s these perfectly optimized links that are going to be key to ranking well, added to the fact that my on-site SEO optimization is geared perfectly to the keyword. The link strategy is much wider than that, as you will find out.
Next, I went to Feedburner and created a new feed for the blog. Blogger blogs already have RSS feeds, but it doesn’t hurt to have extra feeds because they can each be submitted to RSS feed directories giving you added links. I then submitted the feed to 2 feed directories, FeedAgg.com and FeedAge.com just as a starter, there will be more to come over the coming weeks.
I am also writing a short article about my keyword that I will submit on EzineArticles.com. There’s no point in submitting the article quite yet because EzineArticles won’t publish an article that contains links to a site that is not indexed by Google. Trust me on this, when you’re embarking on an article marketing strategy, EzineArticles.com is the first site you want to submit your articles to. Once they’re published there you can submit them to other article directories but I’ll save my article marketing strategy until after the site is well and truly indexed.
